⚙️ How an M2M Connection Works
The term M2M connection stands for Machine-to-Machine connection (or Machine-to-Machine communication). It is the foundational concept that enables any two networked devices or machines to exchange information and perform actions without the need for human intervention.
It is often considered the precursor and core building block of the much broader Internet of Things (IoT).
Communication Link: The network over which the data travels. This is typically a reliable, low-power link like cellular networks (2G/4G/5G), satellite networks for remote areas, or a dedicated wired link (Ethernet).
Receiving System/Application Server: A central computer or software platform that receives the data, interprets it, and often stores it.
Actuator (Optional): A device that receives a command from the application server and executes a physical action (e.g., opens a valve, adjusts a thermostat, or turns off a machine).
